New Zealand – Part 1 (North Island)

It was a trip of a lifetime.  We have been planning for months and finally the day has arrived when we were ready to take off on a two day journey from Bogota to New Zealand.  The plan was to spend approximately three weeks travelling around the country on a motorbike starting in the North Island then making our way down to the South Island where our journey will end.  We touched down in Auckland on a Saturday afternoon and after a very long journey and given the 16 hours difference, we were completely exhausted to say the least.  So, the best thing was to rest and get a good night sleep as our adventures start the very next morning.  After a very well rested evening, we started bright and early with the first leg of the three week tour leaving Auckland for Tairua.  We packed our belongings onto the Harley Davidson bike that was rented there in Auckland and set off on probably the best adventure of our lives.  I still remember that incredible initial feeling when we set off into the sunlight, both excited for what is to come but not sure what to expect.

That first leg was absolutely fresh, new and so exciting.  After spending a night in Tairua, the next day we left for Rotorua where it is famous for the Hobbinton Village and then onto Gisborne thereafter.

HOBBINTON VILLAGE

Gisborne was so breathtaking.  Our hotel was the Ridge House which sits on a cliff overlooking the vast coastline.  This is certainly a surfers paradise and early mornings are the best time to go as it was so beautiful to watch the surfers immersed themselves in the impending waves.  I really enjoyed Gisborne, probably my favourite city on the North Island of New Zealand.

Then on to the last stop on this side of the country which was the magical Lake Taupo.  It was the longest and most wonderful part of our journey on the motorbike thus far because the weather was absolutely perfect and that was exactly what we were hoping for on a 350km journey from Gisborne to Lake Taupo.  Once arrived at the gorgeous Acacia Cliffs Lodge, there was the 2 day break we were waiting for.  Travelling on the motorbike is very exciting and amazing, but also extremely tiring.  We were at the mercy of the weather and up until this point, we had lovely weather with not even a drop of rain, so that part was wonderful but being on a bike did require a lot of concentration.  Up until this point, we were only spending one night at each passing town so being that this was the first 2 day break at this beautiful hotel, it was the perfect end to the North Island adventure as we were setting off to the South Side shortly thereafter.  Lake Taupo is so charming with lovely restaurants and shops but the best part of our stay was when we spent a day sailing around the lake.  It was so peaceful and a glorious end to what proved to be an unforgettable time in the North Island.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Margarita Diaz del Castillo and her gorgeous one of a kind hats and headwear pieces.  The shoot was one of my favourites featuring one of the nicest and certainly, most beautiful person to photograph, Laura C Pan.  We had so much fun (minus the traffic) running around Bogota to various locations including some of my hidden places that I love to photograph at.  Here are some of the shots to share with you:

Entering a New Chapter

It has been quite some time since my last post.  But today marks a very special day for us here at the less is More because it was approximately a month ago that we entered yet again, another new chapter of our visual story.  In addition to a brand new studio gallery, we can now share with you glimpses of our photography journey which is available worldwide. Whether it was Sakura in Japan or in the middle of Masai Mara, each one of these photo is a piece of treasured memory.  The biggest part of my dream is to have my very own gallery to display so much of the work that came from passion and lots of love.  So on top of that dream becoming a reality, we can now ship our photos worldwide is a true testament to the continuing hard work and dedication that go into this incredible project.  This is the beginning of a long dream coming true and I cannot wait to share more as we continue on this blessed journey.  Here are some of the available photos that you can find on our new Instagram account simply by yours truly, ¨TramDMartinez¨

Goodbye 2016 – A Year of Personal Growth

The older one get, the more I realise that it doesn’t matter how wise a person is, there is always at least one more lesson to be learned.  It has been an incredible year with many twists and turns that were both exciting as well as disappointing.  But through it all, the one thing that continues to surprise me is that one can never plan for the future because it is almost never going to turn out the way we had hoped for.  And that is the beauty of it all.  I might not have seen it at the moment when it was happening but at the end of the day, I am thankful that it did.  The year started with a clear vision but as things progressed, I soon learned that I must refocus the much needed energy in building my own dreams, not someone´s else.

Life is a process of evolving into a better version of yourself.  And without the ups and downs we all experience on a daily basis, we would never be able to learn and appreciate the little precious moments.  So with that in mind, there are many exciting things planned for next year but as I mentioned before, things can change, but at least this time, I would be doing it all in the pursuit of my own vision and dreams.  And with that in mind, here are some favourite moments to bid a sweet goodbye to 2016…
